One of the four points on the Miss America Crown

Service – Style – Scholarship – Success

I graduated from Hayfield High School in 2012, and I was POSITIVE I was going to be an Asthma Specialist Pediatrician… but then in college, as many of us do, I changed my mind.

Ripon College Student Athletic Trainers 2014
McCayla Thoe and Stevie Foreman working as Student Athletic Trainers at Ripon College

At Ripon College I decided I was going to take my medical career in a different direction – Physical Therapy. So, I worked as a Student Athletic Trainer with an amazing Head Athletic Trainer, Brian Azinger. I worked every single football game in my collegiate career as well as many basketball, soccer, and baseball games. I loved working with athletes. We helped prevent their injuries through preventative measures like taping their ankles, and repair their injuries through physical therapy. In the end I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science

I also took a bunch of Communication classes, just for fun, and I loved them so much that I ended up minoring in Communication too! For a while I was also a member of the Forensic league too (Public Speaking competition team), just like I was in High School grades 7-12.

When I was a Junior in college, I was crowned Miss Fond du Lac (the county that Ripon College was in) and I was awarded over $6,000 in scholarships! I couldn’t believe how amazing this organization was in terms of helping to pay for my education, as well as prepare me for the rest of my life by teaching advocacy, presence, style, grace, and confidence.

I am looking forward to Miss MN (coming up in just 2 weeks and 2 days! EEEeeek!) for additional scholarship opportunities! I have applied for the Love for Giving Scholarship ($1,000.00), the maurices SELFIE Scholarship ($500.00), Fight Like Gina Scholarship ($500.00), and I will complete a few more before competition begins. On the finals night (June 22) there will also be scholarships awarded for areas of competition such as: talent non-finalist scholarship, interview non-finalist scholarship, finalist scholarships, and many more!

Thank you Miss America Organization for being the LARGEST scholarship provider to women in the United States.
