Whether it’s a wholesome chickpea buddha bowl you’re after or a PB&J french toast is more your thing, there’s quite literally something for everyone on the menu at this sun-drenched brunch spot.
Tucked behind the Pacific Highway, surrounded by towering corporate buildings, Charlie & Franks is a welcome oasis filled with natural light and spacious indoor and outdoor seating. While perusing the menu, words like “buddha”, “macro” and “green” exist alongside peanut butter and jelly french toast and bacon egg rolls – certainly no shortage of choice here.
For those seeking a lighter option, the shockingly pink pitaya bowl ($16) made with a blend of fruits and coconut milk is refreshing and oh-so-instagrammable – perfect for vegans and gluten-free folk. The sausage and egg muffin ($8) with housemade chicken and pork sausage and biodynamic scrambled eggs is like the McDonald’s version, without the processed patty and preservatives (i.e. it’s good, really good).
For something for substantial, go for the eggs with sticky, caramelised halloumi fries ($21) served with greek yoghurt, pomegranate seeds, and thyme infused honey on sourdough. And, if you can’t resist something sweet, the PB&J french toast ($16) topped with bittersweet honeycomb, roasted pecans and vanilla cream cheese really does hit the spot.
Clockwise from top left: Matcha Health Bowl ($15); PB&J French Toast ($16); Bacon & Egg Bagel ($13); PB&J French Toast ($16); Eggplant in XO Sauce ($18); Healthy Kick Start ($20); Eggs & Halloumi Fries ($20); Affogato ($7) + Frangelico ($5) + Butterbing Cookie ($5.50)
